Hutto Veterinary Clinic
Open since 2000, our clinic employs the highest standards of veterinary medicine and management. We are one of the only clinics in the Williamson County area that offers medical care and counseling to both small and large animals. Our staff is equipped to handle all your cat and dog needs, in addition to working with cows, horses, goats and other livestock.
The vets at the clinic are Dr. John Holmstrom, owner; Dr. Catalina Thurstin, formerly of the Houston SPCA; and Dr. Suzi Hahn. We offer a variety of general services and surgeries. We also sell the high-quality Purina pet foods and a variety of flea and heartworm prevention, including Heartgard, Frontline and Sentinel. We appreciate the loyalty and dedication our clients have shown us, and we strive to maintain our reputation as one of the finest veterinary clinics in the area.

Dental care
Regular, professional teeth and gum cleaning is essential to maintaining your pet�s health. Infections in the mouth can easily spread through the entire body via the bloodstream, resulting in costly and extensive medical problems.
Immunization and wellness care
Preventative care is rewarding and essential to both animals and owners. We recommend annual physical exams and more frequent exams for pets older than 7. We also recommend intestinal parasite and heartworm testing, in addition to heartworm prevention. Other steps toward wellness include flea control, vaccinations and dental care, in addition to nutritional counseling.
Microchipping
Collars and tags may not be as reliable as owners think, however, microchipping provides a permanent means of identification. A microchip includes a number, info about the owner and pet, and is added to a national pet registry. It is a simple, painless injection given on the back of the neck, and can be read easily at any vet clinic that has a microchip scanner. Cost as of Jan. 2009 is $35.
Dr. Holmstrom will make house calls for large-and-farm-animal patients, and for special-needs cats and dogs, including those who don�t travel well, or whose owners have trouble transporting them.

A clinic patient, Zoey, a Brussels Griffon, is calmly waiting for Dr. Thurstin to perform her dental cleaning. The vets strongly recommend regular dental checkups. Cleanings are important to help prevent heart, kidney and liver problems that may occur as a result of infected gums or decayed teeth. | 
| We Love Hippos!
The Hutto Veterinary Clinic is a proud sponsor of everything Hippo. The clinic contributes to Hutto school fundraisers, Hutto Olde Thyme Days, Hutto 4-H and FFA Booster Club, the Williamson County Museum Chisholm Trail Cattle Roundup and other activities. The clinic displays on the front porch its custom-painted Aggie hippo. The concrete Hippo was inside, but the canine clients mistook it for a fire hydrant. |

Veterinary technician Pamela Welch joined the Hutto clinic staff in August, coming to the facility from a corporate environment where she worked as a tech and a practice manager. She has a multitude of pets, including Ruby, pictured. |

Betsy is another official clinic greeter, although she is not as outgoing as Buddy. Betsy was one of many kittens born two years ago on Dr. Hahn's farm, and then Betsy decided she would rather be a city cat. | 
| Buddy the Receptionist
Buddy is our most helpful receptionist and would be glad to schedule your appointment. Buddy came to live at the clinic two years ago after he was abandoned on the front porch in the middle of the night inside a Budweiser Light box. He came to the clinic with a fish hook in one paw, and decided it was safer to sit at the computer. |
